· Do you believe that all young fathers should be valued and supported in their role as parents?

· Are you a collaborative, driven self-starter with significant experience of building and managing relationships within communities?

· Do you have a deep understanding of the issues that face people from minoritised groups?

We use the term ‘minoritised’ as an inclusive term that describes people from the African and Asian diaspora. We recognise that minoritisation is intersectional and that people also experience inequity as a result of their religion, sexuality, and disability in addition to their gender and race. We use the term young dads to refer to young dads, expectant dads and non-birthing partners aged 25 and under. This includes people within the defined age bracket who self-identify as father figures including kinship carers and non-birthing partners.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference as part of a close, inclusive, and supportive team that actively supports our staff to develop their skills and expertise. We are looking for a suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced man from a minoritised community. We also welcome applications from people who have lived experience of fatherhood.

About us:

Established in 2017, North East Young Dads & Lads (NEYDL) is an award-winning parenting support charity that works intensively with young men facing fatherhood. Our vision is for young dads to be valued and supported in their role as parents. Our mission is to enable young dads to play a safe, active and meaningful role in their children’s lives, by supporting and connecting young dads and influencing wider practice.

Whilst NEYDL has made a significant and sometimes life-changing impact in the lives of North East young dads and their families, reaching and supporting over 200 young fathers to date, there has been a marked absence of representation from minoritised groups. For this reason, we partnered with University of Lincoln, Connected Voice, and others, to carry out research into inclusive support for young fathers. One of the recommendations from this report was around being sensitive, culturally appropriate, and assertive with outreach.

NEYDL aspires to embed equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in all our decisions, policies and day to day practices and are in the process of developing our EDI strategy. We want to ensure that all young fathers, including those from minoritised groups are able to access our support and guidance to enable them to lead fulfilling lives. To help us to do this, we are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced part time Senior Young Dads Worker to join our established team.

Working hours: Full time post (35 hours per week).

Contract: Fixed term until 19th April 2026, based on a salary of £16.17 per hour equivalent to £29,430.00 gross pay per annum (less tax, national insurance contributions and other deductions required by law or as we may authorise from time to time).

Holiday entitlement: 7.2 weeks’ holiday in the holiday year which runs from 1st January until 31st Decemberinclusive of statutory and public holidays.

Exemptions: Enhanced DBS clearance is required.

Application Process:

Please send your CV (no more than 4 pages including two references that can be contacted if successful) PLUS:
