Role Profile:

 

Citizens Advice Hartlepool are recruiting for a position to Growing Older Coordinator.  This post will support the successful development and implementation of an initial 3 year programme to promote positive ageing experiences for people 50+ living across Hartlepool.

This is a perfect opportunity for a focussed individual with great communication skills and a passion for working with older people.

 

Our ideal candidate will provide opportunities for community connection, as well as sign posting to various local services.  Aiming to provide social activities to connect people, empowering both guests and volunteers to create a sustainable and supportive environment.   To work with people 50+ to have the opportunity and confidence to influence service delivery and improve the quality of life for older people living in Hartlepool.  Providing efficient co-ordinator duties to Growing older members, working with external partners & a target client group.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Work with Citizens Advice Hartlepool and volunteers to develop and implement the Growing Older action plan and monitor outcomes against agreed targets.
  • To identify the location and needs of older people in the Hartlepool community area
  • To map existing support services for older people in the Hartlepool area
  • To develop new support services for older people in the Hartlepool area
  • To identify and develop new volunteer roles to meet the needs of older people in the Hartlepool area
  • To assist with the recruitment, interviewing, training supervision, co-ordination and support of volunteers
  • Coordinate group meetings with full administration support
  • Act as the first point of contact for external partners and media
  • Contribute to project reports on the impact and delivery of the service and the Annual Report
  • Event management and coordination
  • Contribute to risk assessments and ensure they are adhered to by volunteers
  • Maintain and build relationships and work with external stakeholders e.g. Councillors, Healthwatch, NHS, VCSE

 

Promotional activities:

  • Liaison with partner agencies as required by the project
  • Promote the service to the public and other community and partner organisations
  • Attending and holding stands at local events

Administration duties:

  • Data entry – maintain up-to-date records of members and volunteer contacts using a contact management system.

 

  • Photocopying, filing, emailing to complete own work as necessary
  • Producing and updating leaflets, newsletters etc using the agreed ‘house style’, ensuring that the information is up to date and refreshed

 

General duties:

  • To undertake other reasonable duties as required to assist in the efficient running of the project
  • To suggest and contribute to improvements in systems and processes to increase efficiency
  • To attend appropriate training courses and events
  • To abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for the safety of yourself and colleagues.

Essential Experience:

 

  1. Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the needs of older people
  2. Experience of organising own workload according to changing priorities
  3. Enhanced communication skills
  4. Enhanced organisational skills
  5. Able to coordinate events and meetings
  6. Good Administration skills
  7. IT proficient – competent use of IT software such as MS office.
  8. A high level of written and verbal skills to communicate with a wide range of individuals and organisations
  9. Experience of managing volunteers
  10. Ability and willingness to use own initiative and work without close supervision but also work under direction as required
  11. Proven ability to manage own time, work to deadlines
  12. Have an organised but flexible approach to completing tasks

Desirable Experience:

 

  1. Experience of working for a community-based charity/voluntary agency
