We’re recruiting for a part-time Independent Advocate – Relevant Person Representative, to help us deliver Advocacy Services across Northumberland.
Job Title: Independent Advocate
Responsible to: Project Lead
Hours: 15 hours per week
Location: Hybrid, working flexibly throughout Northumberland
Rate of pay: £25,500 (£10,337 actual per annum FTE)
Contract: Permanent
Training will be provided for the role.
Overall purpose
To provide independent advocacy, which supports flexible service delivery across the county. A professional, customer-focused attitude is essential.
The post involves providing the Relevant Person Representative role for qualifying individuals across Northumberland.
Key functions of the Relevant Person Representative role
- To provide DoLS Relevant Person Representative (RPR) services as described in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA), its Regulations and Code of Practice
- To offer one-to-one advocacy and promote, develop and support other forms of advocacy as required
- To maintain contact with the person being deprived of their liberty
- To support individuals to speak for themselves, or to represent them where they are unable to speak for themselves if required
- To complete all relevant case recording, monitoring and evaluation information
- To assist in providing a response to enquiries and referrals for the IMHA, IMCA, Care Act and General Advocacy services and contribute to the general running and development of Adapt (NE)’s Advocacy Service
This activity will include working with people of all ages including those with learning disabilities, people with mental health needs, people with physical and sensory impairment and older people.
