Join Our Board of Trustees: Make a Difference with Communities Together Durham

Communities Together Durham is an independent Christian charity that works alongside churches and communities to tackle poverty and create lasting change. We lead projects which bring hope to communities across the Tyne -Tees area.  We support passionate individuals and groups as they respond to local needs and challenge unjust structures, with a specific focus on alleviating poverty. We work closely with the Diocese of Durham, local authorities and ecumenical partners. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of Trustees.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Trustee with Communities Together Durham, you will help guide our work in supporting local churches, empowering communities, and delivering projects that create real change. Our charity was originally established with the Church Urban Fund, and we continue to work closely with local church partners and Durham Diocese, specifically supporting the Diocese’s Challenging Poverty programme. Our team has a proven track record in community development across the North East, with a variety of impactful initiatives, including Parish Nursing, supporting Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and assisting churches in developing their capacity to serve their communities.

We have a staff team of 9 working in two distinct projects. Trustees meet 6 times per year to provide support and oversight to our work.

We are looking for Trustees with experience in one of the following areas:

Community Engagement: You are experienced in building relationships and engaging with diverse, often vulnerable, communities. Your passion for social justice will help us amplify the voices of those affected by poverty and injustice.

Financial Management: You will bring expertise in financial governance and oversight, ensuring our resources are well-managed, clearly reported, and used effectively to further our mission.

Chairing or Co-Chairing a Board of Trustees: Your leadership experience in guiding and facilitating Board activities will be vital to steering our strategic direction and supporting the team to fulfil its potential.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to contribute to positive change in the Tyne -Tees area.
  • The chance to work alongside a passionate and supportive team of Trustees, staff, and volunteers.
  • Flexibility and respect for your time and expertise, allowing you to contribute meaningfully at a pace that works for you.

Join us in supporting churches and communities as they respond to poverty, injustice, and the needs of refugees and asylum seekers. Together, we can make a lasting difference!
