About us:
Newcastle University Students’ Union is a vibrant, inclusive and progressive organisation which supports and represents students throughout their time at university. We are a charity and our services include academic representation, advice and a substantial clubs, societies, events and volunteering programme. The Union building consists of a live music venue, bar, supermarket, merchandise shop, food outlets, study spaces, a Support & Advice Hub and more. While we work closely with the University, we are two separate organisations.
Position summary:
Are you passionate about volunteering, community engagement and making things happen? Do you love working with students and want to help shape exciting, meaningful opportunities for them? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
- Building strong links with charities and local organisations to offer amazing volunteering experiences.
- Supporting clubs and societies with their community and fundraising projects.
- Helping shape and deliver a brand-new Student Welcome programme.
- Leading on data collection and reporting to showcase the impact of student volunteering.
- Supporting and developing our fab student staff team who help deliver volunteering activities.
- You’ll be part of our dynamic Opportunities team and report to the Head of Opportunities, working closely with colleagues across events, societies and more. It’s a varied and rewarding role that helps students feel good and do good.
Who we’re looking for:
You’re organised, enthusiastic, and great at building relationships, whether with local charities, student groups or colleagues. You’ve got experience of working in community, student or volunteering projects, and you love seeing your ideas come to life.
You’ll need:
- A Level (or equivalent) qualifications
- Knowledge of volunteering or activities development
- Great communication and organisational skills
- Experience writing reports and using data to inform decisions
