The Digital & Social Media Co-ordinator will lead on creating and delivering engaging digital content that connects The Customs House with audiences. They will manage and grow our social media channels, website, and email communications, using creative storytelling to promote performances, events, and community activities. The role will play a key part in driving ticket sales, increasing brand awareness, and ensuring our digital presence is accessible, inclusive, and inspiring.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
- Manage and grow The Customs House’s social media channels.
- Develop strategies to reach new audiences online.
- Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube etc.
- Use platform-specific storytelling (e.g. TikTok trends, Instagram Reels, live posting) to build engagement.
- Produce high-quality copy, images, graphics, and video tailored to different audiences.
- Capture live and behind-the-scenes content at events and rehearsals.
- Respond to comments and messages promptly and appropriately, ensuring positive audience engagement.
- Ensure our dedication to accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity are embedded across all digital communications.
Campaigns & Strategy
- Deliver digital campaigns that drive ticket sales, brand awareness, and participation.
- Manage paid advertising campaigns (e.g. Facebook Ads, Google Ads) with a focus on ROI.
Analytics & Insights
- Monitor, analyse, and report on performance using analytics tools.
- Track key metrics (engagement, reach, conversions) and provide insights to inform future strategy.
- Stay up to date with digital and sector trends, applying new ideas and sharing learning with colleagues.
Website & Email Marketing
• Keep website content accurate, engaging, and accessible.
• Plan, create, and schedule email marketing campaigns - segmenting audiences for improved engagement.
• Develop and manage the email marketing calendar in line with overall marketing and business objectives.
• Write, design, and build engaging email campaigns that align with brand voice and visual guidelines.
• Segment and personalise campaigns to increase open rates, CTR, and customer engagement.
• Conduct A/B testing to optimize subject lines, content, CTAs, and send times.
• Monitor campaign performance, analyse results, and provide actionable insights to improve effectiveness.
• Manage and grow the subscriber database while ensuring compliance with GDPR/other data privacy regulations.
- Stay updated on email marketing best practices, tools, and trends.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience managing social media for an organisation (ideally arts, culture, or entertainment).
- Strong copywriting and storytelling skills with adaptable tone of voice.
- Experience creating engaging digital content (images, video, graphics, blogs, reels, stories).
- Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Figma etc.
- Photography/videography skills and confidence capturing live content.
- Familiarity with analytics platforms (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics).
- Knowledge of digital advertising (Facebook Ads, Google Ads).
- Knowledge of SEO and website management (WordPress or equivalent).
- Highly organised, able to manage content calendars and deadlines.
- Strong visual awareness and creative problem-solving.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to cover events.
- Understanding of accessibility in digital communications.
- Experience producing paid social media campaigns.
