We're looking for an experienced youth worker to develop our youth and play offer for young carers and young adult carers.

Hours:  Full-time, 37 hours/week, permanent. Including the ability to regularly work evenings and weekends (we anticipate this to be three evenings per week).

Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Newcastle Carers Centre), in line with our flexible working policy.

Salary: NJC pay scale 13-16 (£29,064 – £30,518)

A bit about the role

This role is an exciting opportunity for an organised individual with excellent communication skills to make a real difference for young carers and young adult carers.

You’ll plan and deliver a variety of groups and activities for young carers to help them take a break from their caring role and promote youth participation. You’ll work closely with young people and their families to help reduce isolation and offer low-level support – including school drop-ins and referrals to partner organisations.

This role requires someone who can inspire and empower young people to help them reach their full potential, whilst collaborating with other professionals in Newcastle to prevent situations from becoming more complex.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can inspire and connect with young carers to offer low-level support and maintain regular contact. You’ll be an organised individual ready to make a difference for young carers and young adult carers.

The Young Carers Contact and Group Practitioner role needs someone who can develop exciting, creative group sessions for young people. You should have a Youth Work (or equivalent) qualification and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, young people and their families.

This role requires someone who respects and values equality and diversity, can problem-solve, manage unexpected situations and follow safeguarding procedures.
