2027, the 12-month salaried job and professional development programme for talented people from working-class communities, is once again open for applications!
Launched in 2017, 2027, which is supported by Big Lottery Fund, now The National Lottery Community Fund, Barrow Cadbury Trust and The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, is a fantastic way for people to rapidly accelerate their career to prepare them for decision-making roles about where funding is spent in their communities.
Aimed at those with experience working in frontline roles, the programme, whose ultimate goal is to ensure 40 per cent of grant-giving decision-makers are from working class backgrounds by 2027, gives individuals the tools and experience to develop in grant-giving positions within foundations and trusts.
So far, around 40 people with deep community ties and real experience of the issues affecting those communities, have been supported into roles at foundations like Children in Need, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Surrey Community Foundation, Young Manchester and The National Lottery Community Fund, and the number of placements available is likely to be expanding this year.
The programme is currently recruiting 20 participants to begin in October 2020 at various foundation partners across the UK, including in Newcastle. Applications will close on March 26th.
