The North of Tyne recently became the first combined authority in England to adopt a formal wellbeing framework.

Working with Carnegie UK, a charitable trust aimed at improving wellbeing for people in the UK, the North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) brought together a roundtable of specialists in May 2021 to explore the possibilities for a wellbeing approach to pandemic recovery.

After several more meetings during 2021, these experts created a Wellbeing Framework for the North of Tyne, consisting of ten wellbeing outcomes and 52 indicators. The framework is designed to help the NTCA understand what matters most to people, set goals and measure progress towards achieving them.

The roundtable’s full report on wellbeing in the North of Tyne can be found on the Carnegie UK website. A shorter summary report is also available.
