Following a review of its grants procedure, two of the foundation’s programmes now operate on a rolling basis:
Children and young people: creating the best start in life for disadvantaged children and young people, including family support. Grants can be offered to charities/projects that provide:
- mental and physical health support
- learning and development
- support for the whole family
- pastoral and advocacy support.
Later Life: reducing isolation and loneliness for older people (aged over 50). Grants can be offered to charities/projects that provide:
- mental and physical health support
- access to services
- community based approaches
- advocacy, social and welfare support.
Two levels of grant are available in both programmes:
Small grants:
- At least 75 per cent of beneficiaries must be in the target group.
- Grants are unrestricted.
- £1k-£5k per year, for up to three years.
- For smaller registered charities, with an income of up to £500k.
- The total amount of the grant requested must not exceed 20 per cent of total income.
Large grants:
- All beneficiaries of the project must be in the target group.
- Grants are restricted for projects.
- Usually £10k-£60k over one to three years.
- For larger registered charities whose annual income exceeds £500k.
All applicants are asked to submit an enquiry and a decision on whether a full application is requested will be made within three to four weeks for a large grant, and two to three weeks for a small grant. After this, a final decision will be made within three to four months for large grants, and two to three months for small grants.
Please note, these changes do not count for the foundation’s Core Hospice Grants or Hospice UK Partnership programmes, which still have set deadlines.
