Social investment needs to change. The recent Adebowale Commission found that institutional racism and other discrimination remain a critical problem within social investment space, and that more flexible and patient funding is needed. This is where Big Issue Invest Fund Management, UnLtd and learning partner Shift come in. Together, they’re announcing the Growth Impact Fund, a multi-million pound investment fund providing long-term and patient equity, debt, and revenue-based funding to early stage social businesses.

Announced today, the Growth Impact Fund will invest between £50k-£1.5m in social businesses to support early-stage founders from underrepresented groups who have previously been excluded from investment.

It also offers up to £15,000 pre-investment grant funding for social businesses that would like some support to get ready for investment.
