A new Development Fund to support the further development of Health Champion activity in the North East and North Cumbria will open for applications in January.
The Fund has been created to support local partnerships between Local Authority Health Champion programmes and VCSE sector organisations working together to reach communities, with a particular focus on Core20Plus5 priorities.
This Development Fund has been set up to further develop sustainable Health Champion projects that respond to local needs and build on community assets. We want to use the learning from existing programmes and those set up specifically in Covid-19 to establish and develop more Health Champion projects in our region, building capacity and resilience and extending reach into communities.
The funding, of up to £10,000 per organisation, is expected to be used at neighbourhood and place level, and to help VCSE organisations working in partnership with Local Authority and NHS partners.
Applications can be made by Local Authorities working in partnership with VCSE organisations between 2nd January and 28th February 2024, with grant decisions being made before the end of March 2024.
Where a champion programme is established locally, a partnership approach is required to build on work already happening.
Grants are being funded by the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and being administered by VONNE as part of the Healthy Communities and Social Prescribing Programme. This is a key enabling programme of the ICB ‘Healthier and Fairer’ workstream - which has a particular interest in enhancing the role of the VCSE to achieve positive population health and wellbeing outcomes.
Please read the full Development Fund Guidance Notes and use this Application Form to apply before 28th February 2024.
