An exciting new contract has started in the North East supporting young people into education, employment and/or training. Sport Works has secured ESF (European Social Fund) funding to deliver preventive activity to 15-24 year olds who are at risk of becoming disengaged and NEET (not in education, employment or training).
We are delivering a bespoke programme in both County Durham and Tyne and Wear that includes developing employability skills, sports leadership and land-based activities within a farm environment. The learners on programme often face barriers to education but these are being broken down through a flexible approach within a unique setting by experienced and dedicated staff. Schools, colleges, support services and Local Authorities are supporting the programme by identifying young people who are in need of our support. It acts as a wraparound for schools by being delivered at weekends and in school holidays as well as during the week for those young people who benefit from an alternative education. The feedback from learners has been fantastic and engagement is high leading to a beneficial experience for all.
To refer a young person to the programme, or for more details, please contact Sarra Scougall at sarra@sportworksltd.co.uk or telephone 0191 5800 120.
