The final report of the Respond, Recover, Reset study, which looks back at the impact of Covid-19 on the VCSE sector over the last two years, has been released.
Led by teams from Nottingham Trent and Sheffield Hallam Universities, with support from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the study used a mixture of surveys and interviews to develop a comprehensive picture of Covid-19’s effects. Thousands of VCSE sector organisations and staff members took part over a period of 18 months.
The findings of the report are varied, showing that while lockdowns have had devastating consequences for some organisations, others have thrived. This period has seen a rise in flexible funding practices, an acceleration in the shift to digital ways of working, and an increased focus on the importance of mental wellbeing among staff and volunteers, among other things.
The report argues these innovations should be built on to ensure the sector remains resilient long into the future.
