Gateshead Council has invited Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service to provide a support and development service for voluntary and community organisations in Gateshead. This will help ensure the availability of independent sector representation and support is maintained. The new service starts on 20 April and will run until the end of March 2017. Gateshead Council will be consulting with the voluntary and community sector, its partners and others about the support needed for the future.
Newcastle CVS is organising an office base in Gateshead, a dedicated phone number, contact email address and website.
There will be additional staff to support the sector in Gateshead; two posts are currently advertised on Newcastle CVS’ jobs page. Mark Shilcock will again be managing the OurGateshead website and providing support to voluntary and community groups in Gateshead. Mark has transferred from GVOC to Newcastle CVS. Sally Young will also be spending additional time in Gateshead.
Associate membership of Newcastle CVS will be free for Gateshead voluntary and community organisations during the contract.
