Community Energy England has launched a survey investigating the impact of the Community Energy sector in the UK.

Researchers, who will use the results of the survey to produce a Community Energy State of the Sector report, are particularly interested to hear from community energy groups in the North East.

This is a vital piece of research to help policy makers, the community energy sector, industry, and others get a clear picture of community energy, advocate for the sector, and ensure that communities have the support they need to achieve their local energy goals. The State of the Sector report will showcase the difference community energy is making all across the UK and demonstrate the difference it could be making, should barriers to community energy be removed.

As well as investigating barriers to community energy and future aspirations, the survey will gather information about energy generation and storage, low carbon transport, energy efficiency, demand management, fuel poverty work and wider low carbon initiatives.

The results of the survey will also be used by Northern Powergrid to develop a separate regional study covering the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.
