Lack of experience is frequently identified by young people as a significant barrier to moving into work and by employers as a key element missing from CVs and application forms
The Talent Match North East Work X provision enables young people to increase their experience whilst gaining new skills in the work place whilst giving employers a genuine look at a potential employee with minimal risk.
Over an agreed amount of time of no more than 4 weeks employers will be able to see first-hand whether the young person on placement has the skills and behaviours needed to work in their industry or for their company. Talent Match hopes that VCSE organisations of all sizes might be interested in hosting Talent Match work experience placements to benefits young people and their organisations.
Throughout the placement employers and young people will have a designated point of contact for any additional support and feedback. Financial support may be available should an opportunity be available for employment upon successful completion of Work X.
Talent Match NE is targeting support to young people who are furthest from the jobs market, including those who are completely outside of the benefits, work and training system and facing severe barriers to gaining the skills they need to get into work. Talent Match will boost opportunities for young people in these areas by bringing together partnerships of employers, education providers and others, led by local charities.
