Catalyst has hosted a Hustings Event for all candidates in the forthcoming Mayoral elections for the new Tees Valley Combined Authority.
The Hustings were specifically for Tees Valley’s Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector and held at the Acklam Green Centre, Middlesbrough on Monday 3 April.
The event was chaired by Steve Rose, Catalyst’s Chief Executive Officer and attended by all four candidates for the elections, which take place on Thursday 4 May. The successful candidate will be elected to serve as Mayor for the following areas: Hartlepool, the Borough of Stockton-On Tees, Redcar and Cleveland and Darlington. The candidates are:
- Chris Foote-Wood (Liberal Democrat)
- Ben Houchen (Conservative)
- Sue Jeffrey (Labour)
- John Tennant (UKIP).
Each candidate gave a three minute address to the audience and then answered selected questions from the audience, which included a range of diverse attendees from the VCSE. The candidates were given two minutes each to answer the following questions, starting with:
- Where does the VCSE fit in to your radar?
In their answers all four candidates gave their total commitment to the VCSE.
