Virgin Money Foundation are pleased to share the details of two funding opportunities now open for applications- the Community Anchors North East Fund and the Leading the Way programme.
Community Anchors North East Fund
Community anchor organisations play a vital, practical role in reducing the impact of poverty in the neighbourhoods in which they operate. Community anchors offer a broad range of services that are specific for the area’s needs.
Virgin Money Foundation wants to support you to do what you think is important by making grants of up to £30,000 available to support the work of community anchors in their communities.
Applications to the fund can be made for funding to cover the day to day running costs of your organisation, or you can apply for project costs.
Funding awards can be spread over one, two or three years.
The fund is particularly interested in supporting projects which move people out of poverty and provide a longer-term sustainable solution. They would also be interested in applications from community anchors who want to explore the impact of poverty with a view to using this information to inform local decision making.
The fund re-opened for applications on Friday 14th October. There isn't a deadline to apply, but once the money has been allocated, the fund will close for the rest of the year.

Leading the Way
This programme has been designed for leaders who have not benefitted from significant investment in their personal or organisational development.
The fund is keen to work with people who are 'getting on and doing it', and who might feel that other leadership programmes aren't for them.
Applications are particularly encouraged from groups that are under-represented in leadership positions, including people from minoritised ethnicity communities and people with disabilities.
The programme includes:
- Cohort-based learning days
- One-to-one work with a mentor
- One-to-one coaching
- One-to-one specialist support
- A grant to support your participation in the programme.
Overall, the programme offers support of approximately £25,000 in value.
Applications for the programme will close at midday on Friday 16th December 2022. The first step for anyone who may be interested is to check their eligibility by completing the online form.
