Located in an historic Georgian/Victorian Square a stone's throw from Newcastle City Centre, Summerhill Pavilion and Gardens is a community venue with 140 years of history.

The Summerhill Trust, responsible for the management of the Bowling Club, is looking for an Honorary Treasurer to help the charity achieve the best results from its financial management.  This new role is expected to require 8-10 hours per month and may involve a seat on the Trust's board.  You will be invited to attend some or all of the bi-monthly Board and monthly Business Committee meetings.  You can work from home or onsite or hybrid by agreement, plus on-site meetings as necessary.  This voluntary role will play an important part in ensuring the future financial health and sustainability of the Trust. 

You will have a qualified background in finance, accounting or a related field; be familiar with current best practice in charity financial governance, have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, experience in financial management and reporting and in interpreting the implications of financial data through coherent, intelligent narratives and possess fluent communication skills, both written and oral

You will be expected to provide professionally experienced oversight of the financial affairs of the Trust, helping the Board and the Trust's Manager ensure they are conducted in line with the relevant accounting practices.  You will offer the Board and the Manager advice on financial strategy and help the Trust with financial management and with action-oriented analysis and interpretation of financial data.

You will support the Board with Financial Oversight, Budgeting and Planning, Financial Reporting, Governance and Compliance, Fundraising and Resource Management and Board Engagement.

This role is not remunerated but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
