Salary: £

Location: Regionwide

Role description: Board Member

Are you committed to ending sexual violence of women and girls in Tyneside and Northumberland?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are a charity that provides services to women and girls who live, work or study in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.

Our services are for women and girls over 13 who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives.

We are completely independent of the criminal justice system including the police. We offer confidential counselling, advocacy, helpline, email support, specialist information and ISVA services. All our services are free, safe and professional.

Whether you are an experienced Trustee or wanting to take your first steps at Board level, we want to hear from you. We are looking for skilled, enthusiastic and committed women to join our team of voluntary trustees to provide professional oversight, excellent governance, strategic leadership, and act as ambassadors for the organisation.

This is an exciting time to join RCTN; we recently appointed a new Chief Executive and are developing a new strategy for the organisation for the next stage of our development.

The expected time commitment is four trustee meetings per year plus attendance at committees if you are part of one, and Board development and strategy/connection sessions (usually one or two a year).

Our quarterly Board meetings are held in central Newcastle on Mondays between 5.30pm – 7.30pm. We operate hybrid meetings and offer reimbursement for travel expenses.

Your professional skills and background are less important than your attitude and commitment to supporting our mission, so we are open to hearing from women from a variety of backgrounds and employment.

We particularly welcome candidates from black and minoritised ethnic backgrounds, women living with a disability, and young women as they are currently under-represented at this level of our organisation.
