Trustee at Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust

Role Type: Trustee
Application deadline:
Salary: £
Location: Tyne and Wear
Are you a fan of our North East heritage and historic built environment?
If so, Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust want to hear from you.
The Trust (www.twbpt.org.uk) is a dynamic charity winning widespread official recognition for rescuing and restoring historically important buildings in the region.
Our reputation is blossoming within the many communities we serve, seen as a regenerative beacon giving back important heritage that so many want to see re-used. The Trust also achieves strong social outcomes, bringing the wider public much closer to the heritage in their region.
Financially self-supporting - a rarity for a charity in today's climate - the Trust successfully takes on projects that generate revenue streams to sustain its team and lever future work. Currently delivering the pivotal Keelmen’s Hospital restoration, we are keen to explore further projects that create unique homes across the region.
If you can help us achieve this, we are currently seeking new Trustees to join our board and support our important work in-line with our Trustee rotation model. Our Council of Management Meetings are quarterly (held Tuesday evenings). Depending on your interests, you can also attend site visits and sub-committees. For example, Trustees with finance experience also sit on the Operations Group meeting monthly online.
T+WBPT welcome applications from anyone within the North-East region willing to serve as a Trustee, sharing their skills and experience with organisation that works alongside local communities to repair, conserve and repurpose historic buildings and structures.
We are particularly looking for Trustees with specialist skills and experience in the following areas:
Finance/Investment
Legal
Volunteers
Communications
Regional Regeneration
Please send your CV with a 1-2 page covering letter to Kari Vickers, Heritage + Engagement Manager at kari@twbpt.org.uk by the closing date 9 Oct 2026.
