Role description: Officer

Do you have a passion for developing new opportunities, delivering successful projects and helping purpose-driven organisations grow? Are you a proactive, creative thinker with strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills? Can you turn ideas into practical plans, develop partnerships and deliver projects that make a real difference? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

At Ability Consultants, we support charities, CICs, schools, social enterprises, community groups, and private sector organisations across the UK and beyond to secure vital funding and achieve lasting impact. Our clients trust us to provide expert fundraising support, helping them focus on what they do best while we secure the resources they need to grow and succeed.

We know that great people come from different backgrounds and bring a wide range of skills and experiences. You may not meet every criterion listed, and that's absolutely fine. If you believe you have the skills, potential, and enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to our team, we'd encourage you to apply. We're interested in what you can bring to the role, not just what's on your CV.

The Role

As our Income and Project Delivery Officer, you will:

  • Work alongside senior leaders to identify and develop new business opportunities, diversify income streams and support the growth of Ability Consultants.
  • Research market trends, funding and commissioning opportunities, emerging needs and potential clients to identify opportunities for business and service development.
  • Develop new projects, services and business proposals, turning ideas into practical plans, budgets, timelines and delivery arrangements.
  • Lead and coordinate projects from initial planning through to delivery and completion, ensuring activities, resources, milestones and outcomes are effectively managed.
  • Identify and pursue income generation opportunities, including preparing and submitting high-quality funding applications, tenders, expressions of interest and business proposals.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients, partners, commissioners, funders and other stakeholders to support business growth and collaborative working.
  • Work closely with colleagues and clients to develop projects, identify opportunities and ensure services respond to changing needs.
  • Monitor project progress, income generation activities and business development opportunities, maintaining accurate records and reporting on outcomes.
  • Represent Ability Consultants at meetings, events and networks, promoting our services and identifying opportunities for future development.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our services, helping ensure that projects and activities deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients and the organisation.

What We Are Looking For

You may have:

  • Experience of project delivery, business development, service development, income generation or transferable skills from a relevant field.
  • An understanding of income generation, procurement and sales, including identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Strong project planning and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activities, manage resources and deliver against agreed deadlines.
  • Good research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop ideas and turn them into achievable actions.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to develop persuasive proposals, funding applications and other high-quality written materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with clients, partners, senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness, alongside an understanding of the needs of charities, social enterprises and other purpose-driven organisations.
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a team.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 and digital systems, with a willingness to learn new processes and project management tools.
  • A proactive, adaptable and solution-focused approach, with enthusiasm for developing new opportunities and delivering projects that create positive outcomes.
