Become Green Together re-opens with new bursary scheme

Author: Nathaniel Spain

Following over thirty organisations signing up to Become Green Together earlier this year, Going Green Together has re-opened applications throughout November to invite more organisations to join this unique opportunity. All voluntary, community, and social enterprises in the North East and Cumbria are invited to apply.

Become Green Together is a support and training programme to help VCSE organisations embed environmental sustainability into their working practises, and gain the knowledge they need to work with their communities and networks on climate change issues. With the help of sustainability and carbon footprinting experts genee and SmartCarbon, participants will gain access to a wide range of tools, training sessions, and peer support to learn more about the climate crisis, practical steps to take action, and strategies to reduce their carbon impact long-term. This will include accreditation with Investors in the Environment, and use of SmartCarbon's carbon footprint calculator. Participants can also request additional training to suit their needs.

To increase the financial accessibility of Become Green Together, we're excited to announce that we have partnered with County Durham Community Foundation, Community Foundation, Tees Valley Community Foundation and Inspire South Tyneside to create a new bursary scheme to cover all training costs associated with the programme. Organisations can email hello@goinggreentogether.org to enquire about bursaries. These will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Applications close on Wednesday 30th November, and organisations can find out more and apply at www.goinggreentogether.org/become-green-together.

Become Green Together and all of our Going Green Together opportunities are made possible by the generous support of the National Lottery Community Fund and County Durham Community Foundation.
