The Institute of Fundraising has recently launched a new guide GDPR: The essentials for fundraising organisations.
Produced in partnership with Bircham Dyson Bell, they’ve put this guide together to help fundraisers get to grips with the key parts of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for direct marketing, and in particular how you can lawfully and fairly contact your supporters.
All fundraisers and charities want to get this right – not just to make sure they meet their legal requirements, but also to give people a great experience when supporting charities.
This guide will help you to:
• Understand how you can communicate with supporters
• Get to grips with Consent and Legitimate Interest (opt in vs opt out)
• Ensure you are acting fairly and lawfully
• Think through how to go about making some key decisions and getting this right for your charity
• Signpost to further advice and information
