Members tell us that advertising job vacancies is one of the key reasons they join VONNE, so it’s no surprise that from its beginnings in 2000, Job Finder has grown into the go-to jobs board for the North East VCSE sector. This blog looks at our Job Finder service over the years and how it's been shaped by you, our members.
Since 2000 we’ve advertised more than 10,000 roles, with over 4,000 roles advertised in the last 4 years. That’s over 10,000 quality candidates joining your organisations and bringing their skills to our sector and region. While we love hosting and promoting your job adverts, it’s the roles members list that make Job Finder what it is.
Over the last 25 years work and employment in our sector have seen many changes. Digital tools have transformed our working lives and Covid accelerated the sector’s adoption of flexile and hybrid working. Changes in legislation, politics, policy and the economy have all played their part too.
Despite this changing landscape, our sector continues to be a great place to work, offering roles with purpose and variety as well as opportunities for development, progression and connection. One of the reasons we expanded our Job Finder Hub recently was to do more to show job-seekers from all sectors why our sector could be right for them.
We’re passionate about encouraging good work in the sector, so Job Finder supports We Show The Salary, a pledge to end salary secrecy, and Open To All, a campaign to encourage employers to only ask for a degree where one is needed. As a long-time advocate of the Living Wage movement we’re also involved in supporting other employers to do the same.
Along the way, we’ve enjoyed some lighter moments. It’s hard to forget one member advertising for a ‘Christmas Elf – Assistant’ and ‘Christmas Elf – Activity’. We didn’t ask if tinsel was a requirement of the roles!
