IPPR North has published ‘Net zero places’, a new report that highlights the importance of giving local communities more say over how they transition to a net zero future.
According to the report, climate change policy is too often designed from above by policymakers and simply enacted upon people and places. It argues that this approach could exacerbate existing inequalities and give the impression that policy is done to people, rather than with them.
With the help of two case studies, IPPR North suggests that a locally led, community-inspired approach to climate policy would help generate new and exciting visions of a net zero future.
