Volunteering comes to UK professional networking site
Business networking platform LinkedIn has launched its Volunteer Marketplace in the UK, at https://volunteer.linkedin.com/. The Guardian has an article from LinkedIn's social impact manager explaining 'what charities need to know', or go to LinkedIn for Nonprofits web pages at https://nonprofit.linkedin.com/.

Low levels of workers' time to volunteer
A survey run by ComRes on behalf of the Charities Aid Foundation has found that fewer than one in 10 workers are given paid time off to volunteer.
The research also revealed that nearly six out of 10 people believe offering staff more paid volunteering leave would encourage them to give up more of their time for good causes. More than two thirds of people believe that having flexibility in terms of time commitment and using skills and knowledge for volunteering were also important factors in encouraging people to give more of their time.

Volunteering in and for employment and health
There are several new articles on volunteering issues on the NCVO website.
- While there has been a significant increase in employer sponsored (or supported) volunteering, understanding of the impact of ESV is still relatively patchy.
- From the opposite angle, of volunteering as a route into paid employment, 'How does volunteering link to paid work?'.
- And 'Giving health service volunteers the recognition they deserve' covers topics such as the need to not underestimate the support and investment required.
