NEFA’s collections of over 25,000 titles are held on a range of original film, video tape, and now born-digital formats. As a collection, they document the moving image heritage of the region over the past 100 years – the changing landscapes, industries, people, places, traditions and cultures, major events and the everyday lives of people across the North East of England.
Since 2012, NEFA has been constitutionally part of the Yorkshire Film Archive charity; however NEFA retains its own regional brand and identity, its base at Teesside University, its staffing, and its focus on the North East collections.
