Parents In Need Of Support
Parker Trust
Parker Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), number 1172509; we were set up to act as a resource for children and young people up to the age of 25 living in the City of Sunderland and surrounding areas to provide advice and assistance to children and young people, their carers and family members and organise programmes of physical, educational and other activities to help them to develop their skills, capacity and capability to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals. We are based at Parker Memorial Home which is a freehold 13 roomed house based in the Centre of Pallion in Sunderland and owned outright by Parker Trust. Known locally as Parker Memorial Home, it has been supporting vulnerable people who are in need, since 1901. The property, founded by Joseph Parker as a memorial to his beloved late wife, was originally a home for orphaned girls and later in 1952 became a home for young women and their children. In 2017, Parker Trust worked with the Charity Commission to amend the terms of the Parker Memorial Home Charity to be renamed as Parker Trust and to extend its use to children and young people, both male and female, up to the age of 25.
