Save The Woman

Save The Woman (STW) is an advocacy and community organisation that provides support to the African, Asian and Minority Ethnic (AAME) community, particularly the families of children taken into care. Save The Woman continue to build stronger communities and advocating for a better system, with aim to improve lives and life chances, particularly for underserved and marginalised communities.
STW’s priority is to support families in a way that is beneficial to the child and society at large. It is passionate about advocacy and empowerment support, giving parents the tools and skills requisite for their roles.

And feedback forms completed by beneficiaries make it clear the world of difference the programme has made to the lives of families. The programme is also working with Teesside University to improve graduates’ employment outcomes.

Scarth Memorial Hall

Core membership

Scarth Memorial Hall is the village hall for Staindrop, and acts as a community hub for Staindrop village and the surrounding area. The Hall is volunteer-led and hosts over 20 regular classes and activities as well as a wide range of one-off concerts and shows and an annual Beer & Music Festival. Following extensive refurbishment in 2016 the hall is very popular for social gatherings of all kinds as well as business meetings and commercial events.

Scotswood Centre delivers support services and engaging activities under the banner of Timebanking, where the community engage collaboratively with each other and with the Centre to develop new activities in a spirit of co-production. This programme is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund until 2020, and we look forward to working with many people and building exciting new partnerships as we take a creative approach to problem solving in our own area.

Scotswood Natural Community Garden Ltd

We are an award winning independent charity based in Scotswood, one of the most economically deprived neighbourhoods in Newcastle. Established in 1995, our beautiful 2.5 acre garden includes wildflower meadows, woodland, ponds, a sculpture trail, heritage orchards and fruit and vegetable gardens designed as Forest Gardens. The garden is a stunning oasis of beauty and nature set in the heart of one of the most deprived communities in the UK. Our mission is: “To inspire and promote learning about nature, the environment and sustainable living.” We have a 25-year track record of using nature- based interventions to improve the lives of some of the most marginalised people in the country.

Seaham Eastlea and District Community Association

We are a community centre in Seaham, County Durham, providing help, advice and community space to local people, mainly in the Deneside, Westlea and Eastlea areas. We are also home to an Ofsted-registered early years nursery, Tots R Us.

Seaham Youth and Community Centre

Seaham Youth and Community Centre is a welcoming hub for all ages in East Durham. We provide weekly youth sessions for children and young people aged 8–17, alongside daytime activities such as luncheon clubs, a £1 Meals project, and warm spaces. The centre also supports local drama, sport, and community groups who use our facilities. Our focus is on tackling disadvantage, building confidence, and bringing people together to improve health, wellbeing, and community life in Seaham.
