Ways to Wellness
Ways to Wellness is a charity providing a trusted test bed, piloting and prototyping innovative healthcare interventions and new ways of working that empower individuals to improve their health, serving to tackle health inequalities while evidencing cost savings for the NHS.
Current projects that are operational in the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) ICB (Integrated Care Board) region include:
• SPACE Pilot, a partnership project with Great North Children’s Hospital through which social prescribing link workers are placed alongside clinicians to support children with chronic neurological conditions, using a whole-family approach to their care.
• PROSPeR, part of the NHS NENC ‘Waiting Well’ programme, supporting patients on the waiting list for surgery to prepare so they can recover better post-operatively, with less likelihood of a hospital re-admission. In particular, this project is looking at reducing the use of pain medications.
• Social prescribing for people with persistent physical symptoms, who agree an action plan with their link worker to support the day-to-day management of their conditions by eating well, moving more, getting involved in activities, developing positive relationships, and accessing specialist services and support, including around benefits and welfare rights.
One of our biggest successes to date has been our Maternal Mental Health prototype, a collaborative project that won the prestigious ‘Women’s Health Innovation’ Award at the Bright Ideas in Health Awards 2024.
Ways to Wellness is always keen to hear from anyone that may wish to partner with us to test an idea for a novel healthcare intervention they feel has the potential to improve both service delivery and patient outcomes.

WE ARE ALL DISABLED CIC
A movement for positive change
We are all disabled means different things to different people. Almost everyone has something that potentially limits their ability to fully participate in society, particularly in these current times.
We Are All Disabled is a Community Interest Company with the social aim of bringing together people from across disabled and non-disabled communities to explore, challenge and change perceptions of disability.
We want to encourage discussion and debate by creating a safe and supportive space for people to share their experiences and talk about issues which they may find uncomfortable in order to inform, educate and inspire each other.
We Are All Disabled promotes the Affirmative model of disability which encompasses positive social identities grounded in the benefits of a lifestyle of being impaired and disabled.
Our ultimate goal is to create a global community, founded in the North East, which promotes empathy and understanding in order to improve the everyday lived experiences of disabled people.
Through coming together and embracing or unique strengths and identities we can all learn to celebrate our differences and feel pride in who we are.
